The next in the series of Midnight Podcast Books of the Month finally arrives. I fly solo on this one, talking about why I liked Brian Keene’s City of the Dead. At the end, I read an email review of the book sent in by Brian in Colorado.

I just got word today from the makers of The 4th Reich that all is a go, and that proper filming begins this April. The crew is busy doing pre-production, and looking at the conceptual artwork they sent me today, it looks like things are going to look incredible.

Zombie Research: Uncle Sam Unprepared for Zombies

Hello and welcome to what we hope will become an annual event, our very own short zombie story competition.

This exciting and innovative new writing competition offers fiction writers the chance to have their work…well, out there, as well as to receive some fabulous prizes (more on those later).

We are looking for engaging and entertaining short zombie stories, the more original and entertaining the better. Any genre crossover is welcome just so long as zombies are in there somewhere.

For a good chance of winning please don’t bore us with what has come before, non stop violent zombie killing action has been done to death. We want something original, mind bending, genre defying or quite simply astounding or just downright fun… anything goes so don’t hold out!!

The competition starts…. now!! And shall end at Midnight on December 31st this year, after that date we shall place ten of the best submissions into a public poll on these forums where every entrant and member of this forum can cast one vote to decide who the overall winner will be.

The public vote/poll will be open for two weeks and after that the winner and runners up will each recieve their prizes via the post – lets just hope the postmen aren’t too busy striking eh.

All short zombie story submissions should be posted into http://www.zombie-nation.net/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=84 – simply create a new thread and put your stories name as the title, simple!

ANY story posted in that section will be entered into the competition unless it breaches the rules…..

I went to the Eerie Horror Film Festival this past weekend, where I got to see the very hyped independent zombie movie Colin. I’ll tell you what I thought of it, and whether it’s worthy of everything they’ve been saying about it. Also, the zombie short right before it, Deadspiel, kicked ass.

There were some really great things I got in the mail this week, such as Rigor Mortis #2, Revenant Magazine #0, and Zombies: Encounters with the Hungry Dead by John Skipp. I’ll tell you all about these too.

I also review 2 chicken zombie movies: Poultrygeist: Night of the Chicken Dead (2006), and Zombeak (2006).
